Parragirls Memory Project

&
ARC DECRA Research Project 2016-2019

Parragirls Memory Project is a social history and contemporary art project centered on the significant site of the former Parramatta Female Factory and Girls Industrial school in Western Sydney. Since 2012, our collaboration with the former residents of Parrmatta Girls Home has resulted in the creation of six major art projects and exhibitons on site at Parramatta Girls Home and for public festivals and Aborignal cultural events. The Memory Project explores the experience, history and representation of institutionalised women and children in Australia. It fosters creative opportunities for those with a direct experience of institutional confinement to represent and articulate their own history. https://www.pffpmemory.org.au/
